Your guide to your newborn session in your home
Before our Session
1) Contract, retainer & time slot. You've already done this, you're officially booked!
2) Styling guide. You will receive a guide shortly with all the do's and don'ts of getting dressed for your session! This is an important step to how your photos turn out!
3) Remaining invoice. Your remaining invoice is due before the session date
During our session
I typically start out with more lifestyle poses of the family (getting other siblings if included before we loose them) and then move into swaddle poses after if baby starts to get grumpy.
Newborn sessions are about 1-2 hours depending on how well baby corporates and how many breaks are needed.
After our Session
You'll receive a sneak peak in 2-3 days and your full digital gallery available for download in 3 weeks.
Prepping the BABY for your session
Plan on having baby eating before our session - full bellies = happy babies! We often take breaks for more milk and for diaper changes etc. so don't stress about it! Newborn sessions are allotted plenty of time to allow for breaks. If you can, try to keep baby awake before the session...sleepy babies are much more content to be moved around and posed!
Prepping your HOME for your session
Plan on using 2 -3 different areas for our session and making sure those areas are cleaned and all cluttered is removed. Remove all clutter from dressers and countertops. Hide phone cords and anything that isn't meant to be decor. I usually use the nursery, couch and bedroom or other areas with big windows for the best lighting.
What should we wear?
Great question! Here's a styling guide to help guide you and I will also personally chat with you to make sure everything works well together in the studio setup.
