Mini Session Prep Guide
Before our Session
1) Contract, retainer & time slot. You've already done this, you're officially booked!
2) Styling guide. You will receive a guide shortly with all the do's and don'ts of getting dressed for your session! This is an important step to how your photos turn out!
3) Remaining invoice. Your remaining invoice is due before the session date
During our session
Minis have a designated time slot of 15-20 mins with families coming before and after you! So it's important to come dressed and on time.
My goal in this time frame is to capture a good family picture and then break into smaller groups (mom+kids, dad+kids, mom+dad, kids,) and squeezing in some natural lifestyle moments in between. Since our time is short we typically stay in one general area.
After our session
1) Proof Gallery. I will send over your unedited, watermarked images for you to select the predetermined amount of photos included in your session fee (5-15 depending on the session) You will have the option to add additional images with a max of $250 for a full gallery upgrade.
2) Receiving your images. After the final selections are made, I will edit your chosen images and they will be ready for download in 2-4 weeks. If you bought additional images, the invoice is due within 2 weeks. I may posts sneak peaks throughout the weeks on my social media pages.
Share the experience
Now it's time to share your photos!
1) PRINT them! We did not do all this work for your photos to just sit on your phone. Print them out for frames in your home or canvases for loved ones.
2) SHARE them! In a world where social media and digital items are everywhere, I'd love to see them as your new profile pic and would love a tag!
3) REVIEW! A review on google or facebook means the world to me! I'd love to hear how your client experience was with me.
Make the most out our your session
~ Iron clothes and lay them out the night before so you aren't stressing about that right before the session.
~ Plan on arriving a little early just in case things don't go as planned or something pops up last minute.
~ Remember we have a limited time slot together and if you are late, it cuts into your session time
~ Professional hair and make-up are encouraged.
~ Style your hair. Get it dyed if unwanted roots are showing.
~ Have clean or painted nails.
~ Empty wrists and pockets before our session!
~ Make sure you have nude undergarments if needed.
~ Make sure everyone has appropriate neutral shoes!
~ Bring any sentimental items you want photographed.
~ Feed yourselves and kids before. We don’t want any hangry faces!
The Do's
~ Share with friends and family.
~ Word of mouth helps my small business tremendously.
~ I do not guarantee your images after 30 days.
The Dont's
~ This displays poor quality of all the hard work that went into your images.
~ I have a certain style that displays my brand best. It is in the contract that you will not edit the photos.
~ This does not count when printing an image, but altering the images before sharing them on social media poorly displays the professional work I put into your photos.
For the kiddos
DO tell them your having a photoshoot in a few days! E.g. “Mrs. Dakota is going to have so much fun playing with us in the field in a few days! We are going to get dressed up in this pretty outfit I bought you and she's going to take pictures while we play. Maybe we can get ice cream when we are done. Doesn’t that sound fun?“
DON'T tell them that they are going to have to sit and smile and say “cheese“ for the camera. This creates unnatural and stiff photos. You will not be looking at the camera *most* of the time! But don't worry, we will capture the good smiling family picture for Grandmas fridge! My goal is to get you guys laughing and having fun moments together.
For the parents
Same goes for you…Don’t always stare right into the camera. If I want you to look, I’ll get your attention. Remember OUR goal here is for YOU to connect…and for ME to capture that connection.
We are going to let the kids run this show...really! If they are picking flowers, dancing, jumping...just join in! Would you believe I've gotten some of the sweetest pictures will baby was crying? Just snuggle them in and comfort them. I’ll get them looking when I need them when it's a good time. Keeping them happy and having fun is how we are going to get the most genuine pictures and that's our ultimate goal!
The #1 goal is for you to connect in a way that is unique to your family.
I can't wait to work with you!
My best tip? Come with no expectations. We will warm up to each other and be able to capture all the moments. So please don’t stress about your kids not looking and smiling or your grumpy husband who really hates getting photos done. We will make the best of it and capture your true selves!
